This photo looks like it should go with a post that might read…”when life gives you lemons…”. But no, life isn’t giving me lemons, life is good. I just took a picture of stuff on the kitchen counter. Daisies always remind me of Meg Ryan in “You’ve got Mail”. Gosh I love that movie. Any time I am flicking through channels on TV and that movie is on, I stop and watch it, regardless of where it is in the movie. I just love it. So no lemons here…just daisies! This summer I finally found some new (old) sturdy chairs for my dining room…
The old (old) chairs were beautiful, but so unstable that you couldn’t sit in them. Crazy, I know…actually wanting a chair you can sit in! I have 2 of the old chairs on either side of the buffet, holding suitcases and other inappropriate dining room stuff :)
But then again there is a prom dress on the door…
and empty frames with vintage wallpaper on the wall…

I was going to go to the antique market this morning…poke around, take pictures, find a treasure (like this little perfume bottle I bought a few months ago). But, when I woke up this morning, I was in a practical mood. You have enough stuff…it’s an hour away…you have too much else to do. I hate it when I’m sensible. So I made a cup of coffee and sat at the kitchen table and called my dad to wish him a Happy Birthday. We talked about the kids and the weather, my mom’s eye surgery next week, the raccoon that had gotten stuck in his garage overnight and made a mess, about the squirrel sitting on the deck rail outside my kitchen window eating my leftover toast…
We chatted and had our coffee together, he in Pennsylvania, and me in Atlanta. I told him thanks for being my dad, and he said thanks for being my sweetheart. When I hung up the phone I was aware that I had found my treasure for the day, and it was in my heart all along. Happy Birthday Daddy…i love you forever! xo

My boys favorite. I made a huge batch last night and stuck them in the freezer for the next time he comes home. Peanut butter-chocolate chip-oatmeal-m&m. Delish!
MONSTER COOKIES
Directions
Preheat oven to 350. Line cookie sheets with parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the eggs and sugars. Mix well. Add the salt, vanilla, peanut butter, and butter. Mix well. Stir in the M&M’s, chocolate chips, baking soda and oatmeal. Drop by tablespoons 2 inches apart onto cookie sheets.
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes. Do not overbake. Let stand for about 3 minutes & transfer to wire rack to cool. When cool, store in large resealable plastic bags.

Today I was reminded that in 50 days, I turn 50 years old. What once seemed so OLD, now feels so young. So I took this photo on the way out the door to the grocery to remind myself that 50 won’t be so bad. In fact, I’m thinking…the best is yet to come!

My Gerbera Daisies are blooming again, and this time I am determined to outsmart the rabbits.
I’ve made chicken wire protectors (shaped like crowns) to protect the blooms, and so far it’s working.
There are two butterflies living in my garden too…
Sometimes they land on me and sit there while I work.
Very friendly little creatures. I wish they could chase away rabbits!

I’ve been trying to keep a journal with me when I’m out and about these days. I have several, different sizes…ones for the purse, the car, the bigger bag.
Most things I write, I probably wouldn’t share. Not that they’re bad…just personal.
However, there has been a lot of talk about love…

The night before we took Christopher to school, my kids surprised me. Paul and Elizabeth cancelled plans they had made, and Katie got a ride to Atlanta (3 1/2 hours), just so we could all have dinner together. And they even let me take this picture! My two + their two. I feel so blessed to have these four in my life. Being with them fills my heart to overflowing. It was a very good night…
