I bought these wonderful vintage thread cards from my friend JoAnn at the Lakewood Antique Market this past weekend…
I love them because they are so colorful, and I love all things to do with sewing…
I don’t know what I’ll do with them, but they’re making me happy “as is” for now!

I received a package on Saturday from my friend Karla Nathan and I just couldn’t open it. You see, it was so pretty, that I wanted to take a picture of it before opening. When I got out my camera, the battery was dead, so I stared at this lovely package for an hour while the battery charged! She wrapped it with vintage sheet music, a millinery flower, a scrap of old lace and velvet ribbon…gorgeous! Karla is one of those blog friends that I have had the pleasure of meeting in “real life”. Every year we attend the same art event and she makes me laugh until my face hurts! I won a giveaway on her blog and she sent me…
…a copy of her darling book “The Grumpy Fairy”. Karla wrote and illustrated this book for her granddaughter, and it is filled with the kind of love I hope I get to share with a grandchild one day :) Thanks Karla for my lovely gift within a gift!!

My mailbox was filled with treasures this weekend! First, my tiny book swap package arrived from Julie Collings…
Julie packaged everything in this handmade vintage wallpaper envelope…it was so adorable I couldn’t even open it without taking a photo! Julie made another “tiny book” as a tag and had all the books listed inside along with names and blogs…I love little details…
Some people packaged their books in little envelopes or tied them with ribbon or bakers twine…every one was a treasure! Here are the books, and all the names in {PINK} have a link to their blog…

Well, I hope you’ve had a great week, not much to blog about around here. It’s been COLD and dreary…no sun for days. I spent 3 days doing taxes, cleaned, cooked, did some laundry…the glamorous stuff. I did buy these 3 mercury glass votive holders at the thrift store for 50 cents each. Good deal.
And I stopped by TJMaxx and found this floral arrangement and green pillow for the sunroom. A little pick me up for the house and me! I’ve joined Karla's Alice in Wonderland Tag Book Swap, and I plan on working on that this weekend. I need a little craft time! I think she still has a few spots left if you are interested. So…we got snowed in on the very day we were supposed to be moving everything into my sisters store. For 2 days we stayed at home and did everything we could to prepare things…painted furniture, assembled display racks, tagged jewelry, and eventually we took a break and made stuff…
When we made our “snow run” to the grocery store for bread and milk (and chocolate), I bought stacks of coffee filters and assorted sizes of muffin and candy paper liners. We dyed some in coffee and tea, and just stacked them together, strung with wire and old pearls for centers. We also used recycled packing papers from some of her merchandise, as well as tissue paper and pages ripped from a phone book.
I covered a mannequin with these flowers and strung some vintage metal letters from the flea market onto a strand of pearls. My sisters boutique is called ONA, which means “all things good”. I put the mannequin in the store window just as a funky display…I wonder if anyone will get it?

I made it home last night, after cancelled flights and a “state of emergency” snowstorm. Pittsburgh got 24” of snow, and they are expecting 10-12 more inches today! This is a picture looking through the glass window onto my sister’s back deck. I didn’t have proper footwear or clothing, so I didn’t venture outside for better photos. Oh how my kids would have loved this!
I hope all of you living in the snow regions are safe and warm…the winter wonderland was beautiful, but I’m glad to be home!

I’ll be back next week…flying to Pittsburgh today to help my sister open up her store…a real live store…brick and mortar and 20 foot embossed tin ceilings…crystal chandeliers…I’m so proud of her! I will be steaming dresses and doing window displays, among other things…fun, fun, fun! be right back…
