My father in law died tonight at 6:00. We were all there, holding his hands, and each others, as he peacefully slipped away. We circled his bed and told stories, and said prayers, and told him how much he was loved for several hours. He is at peace, and so are we, as he was struggling to hang on. What a difference a month makes. I am once again reminded to cherish every second. He loved to grow roses, and always brought me a few...this was one called Abraham Lincoln and it was his favorite. I never could convince him that PINK roses were the best, as he loved them all. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers...my love to you all.

I am so, so sorry for your loss. How wonderful that you shared a love of roses.

So glad your family could help ease his way to heaven. My family circled my mom as she drew her last breaths, and the peace was so evident on her face. She was only 56, it has been 22 years this February. I take comfort in knowing she is with God, and it was an honor to be there for her. You are in my prayers...

So sorry for your loss, but thank you for sharing the Abraham Lincoln rose. My elderly father also grew roses and this was one of his favorites, a really true red rose. Bless you.

Wishing you peace in the days to come. I lost my father-in-law in April, and we too were blessed that his children and wife of 69 years could be at his side as he slipped from this life to the next. May your days be filled with sweet memories along with the sorrow.
