I finally bought a dress form. I've been wanting one since last summer when Heather Bullard posted hers on her blog. She bought a new one and aged and distressed it to perfection. Her dress form is named Tessie Faye, and she was featured in the April issue of Romantic Homes, along with with Heather's complete how-to instructions. I bought this on Ebay, and it was delivered in just 3 days. It only took 5 minutes to assemble. Now I need to age her a bit...and try to make her look as beautiful as my Flickr friends have done...

Heather bought a mannequin with black wood...I bought mine with white, and thought I would sand it and distress it, or maybe collage the wood with vintage wallpaper...I don't know if that would be too busy...another project. If you have a dress form you have decorated, I would love to see it...leave me a link to your blog or photos in the comment section, so we can all come visit you!

hi suzanne,
the dress forms are so much fun...i actually had a vintage one which i sold at a flea market a few years ago. we had used her in our shop, and her name changed weekly, according to our mood. selling it is one of the things that i just can't get over regretting, but my daughter was in college and times were tight, and you do what you have to do, right? i loved heather's feature in romantinc homes and can't wait to see how you make yours your own...and to hear what you name her!

HI Suzanne!
I love your sweet dress form! I love your Flickr dress form collage, too. Very inspiring! I bought a dress form a while back from WalMart. But I never altered it! I'll give it more thought. You can see it here (where I was putting a scarf on it that I made):

I sort of would like TWO. One plan and one altered! I'll have to check ebay!

So, is the dress form just for decoration, or do you actually use it to form dresses? I am not sure I would like looking at a mirror image of my hips!

Cant wait to see what you do with her...I am a mad collector, and have been for about 15 years!! I have 2 antique ones, which I adorn with old hats, scarves and shawls. I have an old department store one, no arms or head, but a very ornate base and finial on top.Her name is Marilyn, I used to display her outside a shop wearing a dress like Marilyn Monroe wore! All my others are wire, different sizes and shapes, one I have a vine growing over in the garden. I just love them...oh and I have quite a few small ones for brooches, beads etc! Love them!

Don't you JUST love these??? I have an antique one that sits on my counter at the shoppe. She is dressed differently all the thyme, depending on what is sold off of her. You can go to my blog... she is in the Header/Banner at French Rustic Cottage. I love Vintage Attire... Of course, she has changed again since this photo...
Love your blog... Blessings 2 you, Pamela

p.s. Did I tell you that we are painting our loft/living room - and guess what, I won out on the paint color - B.M Linen White. Can't thank-you enough for the tip! I love the color...

Hi Suzanne! I bought the same dress form off eBay last summer. I have big plans to age her up a bit, but I'm afraid to mess up - isn't that dumb! I bought mine with the natural wood with intentions of painting it. I like the paper idea... I really do have to do something with her. One of these days....

Hi Suzanne,
I was lucky enough to find a dress form in a thrift store, leaning in the corner with no base! I begged the manager to sell her to me and he finally did......I had no idea how I'd display her.....worry about that later, after all, she could always sit in the garage until such a time......LOL! (I Do that too!) here is the link to my dressform and how I ended up displaying her. She is now in my bedroom with my wedding dress on, I never did shab her up....(that's another project for another day!)

I "antiqued" a dress form that I got from ebay.........First they sent me the wrong one (It was hard sided instead of fabric) but they sent me the correct one, and said just keep the first one!! SO the hard one I covered in vintage dictionary paper...very cool. but I still need to make a stand(they only sent one of those) for her. You can see "SOPHIE" on my blog www.nataliehansen.typepad.com in the Aug, Sep, and in Oct in my local Street Faire booth!!!
